Finally Skiing Again! – …and it feels so good.

Powder snow skiing is not fun. It’s life, fully lived – life lived in a blaze of reality.

Today was the first day of skiing for me here in Tahoe. We were subject to another of our “atmospheric rivers” over the last few days leaving a few feet of fresh dense wind buffed pow in the high terrain on the north shore of the Lake.

It was great to catch up with some of the usual crew who frequent the sunrise, dawn-patrol winter tours. We always mean to see more of each other in the warm months; but all it takes is some snow on the ground and everyone is ready to hit the trail!

The skiing was really great period, but especially for early season conditions. The wind buff and higher density of the upper layer of snow really helped keep the powder skiing smooth and shallow, perfect to avoid the early season hazards lurking below!

It was great to get out and see the crew, it felt amazing to butter some first-day powder turns out, and I am now officially stoked to get this season going!
