In Tahoe we have an ever-growing group of backcountry skiers who are, nearly always, looking to get out for an early morning ski. The group text circulates in the evening and we all re-calculate what time our employers will really NEED each of us to show up tomorrow morning.

“Yeah, I think we can squeeze a quick ‘dawn patrol’ ski tour in, but we’ll have to start really early…”
