“Sometimes it’s best to brave the wind and rain…“
-Garth Brooks
We rang in 2017 while sleeping in the camper beside a hot springs outside Mammoth Lakes, California. As the sun rose we skinned away from the trucks towards the Wineglass Couloir. After a treacherous creek crossing we noticed the plumes of snow swirling over the ridge line and twisting down the couloir in the wind. We climbed up and out of the ‘stem’ of the wineglass before the wind threatened to throw us back down and we decided to ski. Our boot pack was filled in (almost as soon as our feet left it) and the couloir was coated in smooth cold powder for an amazingly aesthetic ski descent. Happy Birthday to my beautiful bride and Happy New Year!

Interesting pictures Ben…they tell a story !

Amazing descent on what looked like a wild day. Finishing off with a dip in a hot spring, does life get better than that!
